This thing was extremely difficult to install due to the fact that the base does not flare out enough for a screwdriver to get around the sharpener; you have to go in at an angle. Also, the screws that it came with were low quality...to the point that one of the screwheads stripped out when I was trying to install it and thus I was not able to get the screw all the way in (and I had pilot holes, so there's really no excuse).The sharpener itself....meh. Of course the sharpening cylinders are made of metal, and so is the base, but the part that holds the shavings is plastic so considering a bunch of kids are going to be using this, I anticipate that it will not live long. The handle is very stiff and does not turn easily and you have to use an unreasonable amount of pressure to get it to grind.If I had it to do again, I would purchase a different sharpener. I can't believe this one got so many positive reviews.
